A Dhobi (washer man) by caste, Babunandan is one of the few performers
who still practice the form of Dhobiya dance.
He
has performed and received many honours at a national and international
forums. Age has not dampened his enthusiasm
or energy. Even though he can't hear very well- he sings in a
booming voice, typical of folk performers, and emotes such that
the listener can picture the song vividly.
