An
integral part of a traditionally wedding is the Gari -
a taunt in the form of a song - specifically targeting
the bride groom's father.
The relationship between the bride's mother and the groom's
father is one full of lighthearted banter. In keeping
with this, the gari taunts the samadhi, groom's father-
mostly about his looks. The song ridicules the groom's
family and praises the bride's.
In the Bundelkhand area- the meal served during the wedding
is known as 'Pangat' and the gari is sung by the women
as soon as the guests sit down to eat.
