| These
songs are popular and very important in the rural areas
of Rajasthan. They are usually sung on the occassion of
a wedding. Many of them have amorous references but not
all. Some speak of Lord Krishna or narrate excerpts of
religious epics like the Bagdavat Gatha or the Ramayan.
Often a Phaag singing session sees the impromptu participation
of the youngsters in the gathering who begin a series
of question and answers sung in the same way. Words like
Genda, Garu or Gajra are used frequently in these songs
to address the lover.
