is the land of Radha & Krishna and the Holi celebration
here is unique.
Rasiya is the form which is mostly sung in this region
on Holi.
An interesting event is the Rasiya competition between
men dressed in pink turbans and those in yellow turbans
held between Radhakund and Krishnakund.
The Lathmar holi of Nandganv and Barsana is very famous.
This is played before Holi. After a musical question answer
session, young men begin singing Rasiyas- and as soon
as they reach the street- they are showered with blows
from women armed with sticks. The men try to defend themselves
till sunset when one young man is caught by the women
and made to pray to the well signifying the end of this
part of Holi.
