'Beat
of India' at 'Womex', World Music Expo at
Rotterdam
|
The
Beat of India.com
stall was the sole representative of India
at "Womex"
the largest event of "World Music"
that was held at Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
What
is Womex?
The worldwide music expo WOMEX is the
world's premier networking point exclusively
dedicated to world, roots, folk, ethnic,
traditional and local music of all kinds.
After its premiere in Berlin (1994) and
editions in Brussels (1995), Marseille
(1997), Stockholm (1998) and Berlin (1999,
2000), it was held at De Doelen at Rotterdam
in the Netherlands this year.
Launch of "Priye"
Beat of India.com's latest album of Love
Songs titled "Priye"
(Dearest) was launched at the
fair and was very well received by the
music lovers, journalists and distributors
who had made their way to Rotterdam from
all corners of the globe.
Bright colours, that are synonymous with
India were fully represented at the Beat
of India stall and it attracted
both music lovers and those interested
in doing business. Though the classical
music of India has made a place for itself
in the world market, the fantastic traditional
music or 'folk music' has not got much
exposure in the global music scene. Apart
from a few titles of Rajasthan, music
lovers do not know about and do not have
access to the traditional music of India.
Beat of India.com
is playing the role of facilitator in
filling this gap with the comprehensive
and authoritative website, www.beatofindia.com
and the release of CD and cassette titles
that make this music available for the
world audience.
The Beat of India
website already has the largest database
of folk music for free access available
on any medium. It combines the songs in
streaming audio files with video clips,
lyrics, translations and a lot of other
information.
