Kalu Ram Bamnia was born into a family of singers. His Grandfather, father and uncle had a group that sang the verses of many saint poets including Kabir, Gorakhnath, Meera and performed not only in their village but in the entire district. Since he was about nine years old, Kaluram started accompanying them on the manjeera and slowly learnt the songs they sang. 1989 onwards he has performed independently on All India Radio and has been doing many programs across the state. Much more than a profession, he considers music and especially the words of the saint poets that he sings, his way of life. His immersion into the spirit of the words and music clearly reflects in his beautiful rendition.
